Fans take home field at PNC Field

MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders have not yet played a home game so far this season, but the fans have already taken the home field.

Families and fans gathered Sunday afternoon at PNC Field in Moosic for the team's Annual Family Funfest.

The free event is a chance to get behind the scenes before opening day and even buy some tickets at discount prices.

Kids ran the bases, families toured the dugouts, and got a look at the newly-renovated locker rooms.

So, how did it feel for fans to get such rare access?

"Awesome. That's the only words I have. Awesome. I can't. Just awesome!" event attendee Ron Richards laughed.

"The sun is out, there's no better way to kind of just come out, hang out, check out the ball park, and kick off baseball season," said General Manager of Scranton-Wilkes Barre Railriders Katie Beekman.

The Railriders' home opener is set for Tuesday, April 8, against Rochester.
