PITTSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — People are getting a hands-on lesson in the Pittston Area on an increasingly popular TV news gathering tool.
Trainees gathered this weekend to practice hovering drones at the Pilot Mind Drone Academy.
People from northeastern Pennsylvania and across the country were schooled on proper usage in order to earn FAA Remote/Drone Pilot Certification.
Television news is one of dozens of industries that use drone cameras, high and low, to help benefit their business.
"They're more efficient. They're more effective, and they really are saving a lot of money for companies. They're doing jobs we couldn't even imagine in a shorter amount of time for less money," said Pilot Mind Drone Academy Founder John G Duesler.

"Looking at something from a different angle is so much cooler than just a regular camera right at the eye height so anytime I can shoot something a little lower, a little higher, it's going to give the client just more bang for their buck from advertising with us," said Brett Piper, Drone Pilot Student and Creative Services Director at KRBK in Springfield, Missouri.
The Pilot Mind Drone Academy will hold its grand opening on April 26 in Luzerne County.
