WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — All throughout March, 28/22 News featured Remarkable Women, and on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., we revealed this year's winner of our Remarkable Women contest.
Lisa Urbanski is the co-founder of Brighter Journeys, a group that helps families with children with special needs.
Lisa was under the weather on Tuesday and joined us by telephone, so her family and friends were in the PA live! Studio for the presentation.
A few weeks ago, it was 28/22 News Anchor Candice Kelly who broke the news that Lisa had won.
Congratulations to Remarkable Women 2025 Winner Lisa Urbanski
As Lisa walks down the hall to a conference room, little does she know her friends and family have been keeping a big secret from her.
She thinks she's being interviewed for an upcoming event honoring her friend, John Graham.
But in reality, the honor is going to her for her tireless devotion to her non-profit Brighter Journeys, advocating for all children with special needs and their families in NEPA.
Humble and not easily duped, Lisa is shocked as more than a dozen family and friends pulled one over on her in an epic way to announce she is our remarkable woman for 2025.
Yet, after all the hugs, balloons, flowers, and cake, it still takes a moment, for this moment, to sink in.
Lisa will now head to Los Angeles to represent 28/22 News at the Remarkable Women gathering.
