HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Downtown Hazleton is bursting with a sea of color as community spirit blooms for its first-ever Tulip Day. The event on Sunday afternoon at Can Do Community Park featured a stunning display of 50,000 blooming tulips.
All guests got to enjoy music, food trucks, and a chance to pick 10 tulips for free.
"People can get out, get downtown, pick some tulips, it's Spring. Tulips ARE spring. It's what Spring's all about," said Alex Van Hoekelen, Organizer from Van Hoekelen Greenhouses.

"We want to get a variety of colors so we can share them with our families, let them choose if they weren't able to make it out here today, little breezy, little cool, but we're making the most of it and it's a beautiful day," said event attendee Charlie Karchner.
Tulip Day in Hazleton had a strong showing, with organizers saying more than 2,000 guests came out for the event.
Tulip Day was held in places like San Francisco and New York City before coming to the city of Hazleton.
