PA police officer shot in line of duty

POTTSTOWN, MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities in Montgomery County say an officer was shot Sunday evening.

The incident reportedly happened in the area of Winding Road Sunday evening, NBC10 reports.

Reports say police responded to a two-car crash late this afternoon in Pottstown.

According to reports, a source said a man involved in the crash tried to grab a gun from one of the cars, leading to a struggle with police.

The gunman then reportedly ran into his nearby home and opened fire.

Officials say suspects in Lycoming County homicide arrested

According to NBC10, the Pottstown Police Officer was shot in the shoulder and was taken to Reading Hospital. The officer is currently stable.

NBC10 is also reporting that a SWAT team was called to the area, and a heavy police presence formed.

At about 10:30 p.m., police told NBC10 they detained someone in connection with the incident, but so far are not saying if it's the gunman.
