Exterminator brought in after bedbugs found in Carbondale school

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local school was thoroughly cleaned after bed bug concerns.

The Carbondale Area Superintendent says over the weekend, an exterminator was brought in to clean an entire section of the building, after two bed bugs were found in a classroom.

The principal says students who were in the affected classroom were moved, and their families were notified.

The school did contact the Department of Health.

They said the school handled the situation very well, and at this time, there is no concern.

However, the school will continue to monitor the situation.
