WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was taken to the hospital after police say he reported being struck with a microwave during a burglary in Wilkes-Barre.
Wilkes-Barre City Police say they responded to a report of an assault at a residence on West Market Street Saturday around 9:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, the victim, a 61-year-old man, told them that another man had breached a main entry door and made his way inside the home. Once inside, the victim said the man confronted him in his bedroom and struck him several times with a microwave oven, according to the police report.
The 61-year-old reported he was able to grab and deploy a can of pepper spray on the suspect, who then fled the home.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated. The investigation is ongoing.
