PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Kids with special needs got into the Easter Spirit with an annual Easter Egg Hunt specifically designed for them.
Non-profit Brighter Journeys hosted a Fun Day for thousands of kids who can sometimes be left behind in group activities.
The annual event gives them a chance to move at their own pace and feel comfortable, without being overwhelmed.
The planning for the annual hunt starts in January when volunteers begin stuffing thousands of eggs with fun prizes.

The Easter Bunny even stopped by to take photos with families.
"So in the very beginning, we started off with maybe 280 children, and it blew up to 1200 children. Word got around, schools started calling us and asking how they could be invited. First, it was just Luzerne County, and then I just opened it up to almost 12 counties," Brighter Journey's founder Lisa Urbankski stated.
Here's a sweet, fun fact: Lisa's father places a Hershey's kiss in each of the 14,000 eggs.
Each kid walked away with tons of goodies from Monday's event.
