Pocono Wildlife asks for fish donations to feed eagles

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center is asking for fish donations to help feed their wildlife.

Pocono Wildlife has two eagles in their care who prefer trout, but they can also take salmon and bluegill.

They are taking donations, but request that you bring your fishing license with you as required by law.

The trout does not have to be gutted, and it can be frozen or fresh. The fish can also feed other animals in their care.

"Trout is the main thing we ask for because it is our eagle's favorite thing to eat. They're very picky, so trout is one of the only things they'll eat fish-wise, but we do occasionally take salmon and bluegill too, as well, for any herons we get in," Lead Avian Specialist Sampson Metzgar explained.

Pocono wildlife is also in need of volunteers; you just need to be at least 18 years old to apply.
