DMV lines getting busy ahead of REAL-ID deadline

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— We stopped by the drivers license center in Dunmore this afternoon.

People were waiting in long lines inside to get their REAL-IDs.

While many people we spoke with did not mind, others are not so keen on having to make the change.

PennDOT holds press conference for Real ID deadline

"A waste of money basically. If you can't verify the person with a regular id, what in god's name is it? Artificial intelligence? That's what's taking over," voiced Scranton resident Denise Cornax.

"The pictures the same you know so I don't see why we can't just use the license. Shows who we are, where we live, and REAL-ID is only a stamp on the little star on the ID so," added Brandon Guillroy of Scranton.

The deadline for the REAL-ID is May 7. It will be needed for domestic flights and entering federal buildings.
