SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Christians all over the world and here in northeastern and central Pennsylvania are observing the holiest week on the religious calendar.
Saint Peter's Cathedral is among the houses of worship that celebrate Palm Sunday.
Worshippers held palm branches, symbolizing what crowds waved to greet Jesus more than 2,000 years ago after he entered Jerusalem.

Palm Sunday marks the final week of Jesus' life, which the faithful believe culminated in his crucifixion and resurrection.
"It's an important day for us as Christians because it really marks off this week as really the central focus of our entire faith," Saint Peter's Cathedral Pastor Reverand Jeffrey Tudgay explained.
Saint Peter's Cathedral will hold special holy week masses and services daily beginning on Thursday and continuing through Easter Sunday next weekend.
