SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A decades-old community holiday event is alive and well in Scranton. Children and their families turned out to McDade Park on Sunday for a free drive-thru Easter Party.
The Easter Bunny and various mascots were on hand to pass out sweet treats to kids, plus free food and meal coupons from participating restaurants.
Hundreds of children showed up, including those of a man who tells 28/22 News that an event like this is so important.

"Just get a little bit of light in the air despite everything that's going on. It's all about family. It's all about togetherness. Let the kids come out an Easter hunt, man," Scranton resident Daniel Richardson said.
"And this is about giving back to make sure the children have a safe environment to come out and get some Easter candy and have a good day," O'Malley Family Easter Party host Patrick O'Malley explained.
This marked the 24th year the O'Malley family hosted the Free Easter Party on Scranton's West Side.
