PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — School students in Luzerne County are getting into the Easter Spirit. The Pittston Area Intermediate Center held its first Bunny Olympics event on Monday.
Hundreds of students in grades three through five took part in the Easter-themed STEAM event, focusing on Science, Art, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics.
They got to compete in activities like building towers out of eggs, or egg races.
Registration still open to ‘pick up’ the Poconos
Students even got a special visit from the Easter Bunny.
"It's just a lot of fun activities to get them out of the classroom, moving around, enjoying themselves, like I said, not realizing they're actually learning and having fun," said Pittston Area Intermediate Center Art teacher Lisa Pribula.
"Well, it's a crazy experience, but it's actually kind of really fun. Sometimes, some other people think it could be boring, but for me, I think it's really amazing," fourth-grade student Logan Balchune said.
Monday's event was a huge success, and the school hopes to make this a yearly tradition.
