(WBRE/WYOU) — Crestwood School District released a statement regarding the sensory room controversy spreading on social media.
28/22 News received numerous calls and messages regarding a possible closure of the sensory room at Rice Elementary School.

We reached out to Superintendent Natasha Milazzo, and she stated the following;
The District is acutely aware of the community stir on social media regarding the incorrect suggestion that the Sensory Room at Rice Elementary was closed. While the Sensory Room was relocated/moved inside the Rice Elementary school building, it was NOT closed. Rumors to the contrary are inaccurate. The sensory room remains open and available and is an important resource for students.
This District, this Board, and this Administration ALWAYS put students first. That is our mission and our mandate, and that will not change. We urge the members of this community not to hesitate to contact the Administration directly when a concern presents itself. This will help to prevent rumors and half-truths from spreading on social media.
When issues like this are presented to social media before they are presented to the District, they only serve to feed the appetite of negativity and division within our community.
