Woman arrested after deadly wrong-way crash

LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman has been arrested on 3rd degree murder charges for her involvement in a wrong-way crash that killed another driver, police say.

On April 17, Lycoming Regional Police Department arrested 35-year-old Kari Lisa Greenaway at her home in Pine Creek Township, Clinton County, for an outstanding warrant charging her with 3rd degree murder, homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death, and other related offenses.

Police say Greenaway was charged for her involvement in a deadly crash that happened on February 17, along State Route 220 Highway in Porter Township, Lycoming County.

Investigators stated that Greenaway was driving a vehicle at a high speed, traveling in the wrong direction on SR 220 Highway, when she struck and killed another driver. Greenaway fled the scene but was stopped shortly after.

Detectives at Lycoming Regional Police, along with Pennsylvania State Police, determined that Greenaway was at fault for the crash that resulted in the death of 38-year-old Michael Kurelja from Illinois.

Greenaway was arraigned and taken to Lycoming County Prison.
