Warm weather brings annual Easter egg hunt in Luzerne County

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Some mild temperatures combined with an Easter tradition brought out a big crowd to downtown Wilkes-Barre.

City firefighters gave the Easter bunny a lift for the downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association's annual Easter egg hunt.

Hundreds of kids and their parents filled the square as children went in search of thousands of candy-filled, colorful plastic eggs.

Some of the eggs also had tickets for prizes.

Families are not the only ones who look forward to this event.

"We really just want to do something for the kids. We really love seeing them. They come and just seeing the happy smiles on their face. It's really for the community," expressed Samantha Bovolick, Manager, Anthracite Newstand/downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association Member.

The Easter egg hunt also featured a bunny trail with more than a half-dozen businesses offering arts and craft and other activities for kids.
