MAHONING TOWNSHIP, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is investigating a Carbon County incident where a man is dead and another was hospitalized after they were found by their coworkers to have overdosed in a pizzeria.
Troopers say on Saturday, April 19, at about 6:15 p.m., the PSP Lehighton barracks got a request from the Carbon County District Attorney's Office to assume the lead in an investigation.
State Police say the investigation was into an overdose incident where two male employees overdosed while working at Pizza Como USA on Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East in Mahoning Township.
Authorities say Mahoning Township Police Officers initially responded to the business shortly after 5:00 p.m., where they learned the two victims were found unresponsive by their fellow co-workers.
Both men were rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital's Carbon Campus, where one of the men was pronounced dead.

PSP Lehighton Criminal Investigation Unit Troopers Daniel K. Magarelli and Ryan D. English arrived on the scene and met with Mahoning Township Officers, County Detectives, and District Attorney Michael Greek.
State police then processed the scene and carried out interviews.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing in conjunction with the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office.
