Over 200g of weed seized after undercover sting

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he attempted to flee an undercover sting where hundreds of grams of marijuana seized.

On April 17, the Scranton Police Department began investigating the advertising of drug sales by 20-year-old Ezequiel Soto on social media, according to court records.

Undercover investigators stated they contacted Soto to meet up for a sale of marijuana worth $70.00. Police said Soto met with the undercover detectives at the location, and they pulled up behind and to the side of his vehicle.

As stated in the affidavit, Soto attempted to flee the area by reversing, but when he accelerated forward, he hit a detective's patrol vehicle, allowing officers to remove him from his car.

A search warrant was issued for Soto's vehicle and home, and police say they seized the following;

148 grams of marijuana in his bedroom

42 grams of marijuana in his dresser

14 grams of marijuana in his vehicle

Narcotic packaging

Digital scale

Soto has been charged with aggravated assault to police, drug possession, and other related offenses.
