Theft reported at Walmart leads to high-speed chase

WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A theft investigation at Walmart led to a high-speed police chase ending in an arrest.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department, a woman, Rebecca Collins Wells, and a man refused to cooperate with loss prevention at Walmart after under-ringing items. The two then fled in a red Pontiac G6, police say.

While on the way to Walmart, officers said they saw the Pontiac and tried to pull it over. The driver, Wells, did not listen to officers' requests and fled the stop, police reported.

Investigators stated Wells was seen fleeing on Coal Street, then onto Wilkes-Barre Boulevard, where she drove at a high speed, through red lights, and into oncoming traffic.
