HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) will be holding a public meeting to examine the data center surge and its impact on PA's power grid.
The PUC says that as PA faces a surge in energy demand driven by the data centers and other large-load customers, they are hosting a public hearing on Thursday, April 24.
The hearing will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Hearing Room 1 of the Commonwealth Keystone Building located at 400 North Street in Harrisburg. It is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the PUC's website.

"This is a fundamental turning point in our energy landscape,” said PUC Chairman Stephen M. DeFrank. “Across Pennsylvania, we are seeing unprecedented demand from data centers and other high-load users, and that growth is happening faster than any of our traditional planning models anticipated. This hearing is a critical moment for the Commission to explore smart solutions that will maintain reliability while seizing this economic opportunity."
The hearing will feature a series of expert panels representing the perspectives of large load customers, including data centers and industrial users, electric distribution companies, and customer and public interest advocates.
The PUC will accept written comments for 30 days following the hearing. Instructions on how to submit comments will be posted to the hearing webpage after the session.
If you are looking for any hearing-related materials, they will be on the data center hearing page of the PUC website.
