Remembering Pope Francis in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A prayer service to remember the late Pope Francis was held at King's College Wednesday night.

Many people attended the service to honor him with a mass of remembrance at the Chapel of Christ the King.

The event brought together prayers that were a big part of Pope Francis' life.

The event was marked by a reading of scripture.

There were also moments of silence, along with the praying of the rosary.

"Two of the women who are with us tonight who come often into the, to our mass at noon said how moving it was for them, the silence, the opportunity to pray together is very meaningful for them," Chapel of Christ the King Father Thomas Looney said.

Father Looney encourages anyone interested in attending mass at the chapel to stop by for their daily masses held each day at 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
