Local medical organizations come together for Wellness Day

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Today is a beautiful day to be outside and an even better day to focus on wellness.

Several non profits, local universities, and hospitals came together on Public Square in downtown Wilkes-Barre to hold a Wellness Fair.

Doctors, dentists, and clinical experts there performed consultations, vaccinations, and screenings.

Organizers say the event focused on providing free healthcare for the day for those who need it in the community.

"We have people that are unhoused, we have people who are unemployed, we have people who are under or uninsured, they need something, they need help, they need to talk to people, they need to feel seen, feel heard, they need a chance, and having an event like this gives people a chance," explained Daryl Lewis, President, Rising Tide Wellness.

The Wellness Fair on Public Square wrapped up at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

If you missed Thursday's event, you can attend Scranton's Wellness Fair at the Lackawanna County Courthouse on June 26.
