STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — A 22-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after damage from the storm caused problems with utility lines.

According to the State College Police, just after 7:15 p.m. on April 29, they received a report of a person being electrocuted near the 1500 block of University Drive. Upon arrival, crews found that a 22-year-old, whose name is being withheld at this time, had encountered an active electrical current. Police noted that he had been trying to put out a mulch fire at the time of his death.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and officials are working to speak with his family.

They noted that the tragic accident occurred when Tuesday's storm was hitting the State College area. The storm itself caused damage to many trees and utility lines.

Police are reminding the public to be extremely careful and to never approach downed lines or areas where lines may be down.
