CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Carbondale Fire Department has stated that ten people and some pets in three separate apartments have been displaced after a Thursday evening fire.
According to Carbondale Fire Chief John Piwowarczyk, crews were called to the unit block of River Street just before 5:00 p.m. for a reported structure fire.
Two arrested in connection with New York homicide
Piwowarczyk states that a piece of sheet metal falling from from a roof latched onto a high-tension pole wire energizing the whole building.
A third floor panel was energized , which then went to the electrical panel of the whole building, resulting in a small fire, according to officials.
Chief Piwowarczyk equates the situation to as if the building was struck by lightning.
First responders states that there were no injuries, and the building is condemned until electrical work is done.
