WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The stage is set in West Pittston for the 54th annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
The event is a favorite for many people in the area, and it's taking the spotlight once again.
That's right the cherry blossom festival is back and better than ever, and this year organizers say they've got lots planned for people to enjoy.

Located along Susquehanna Avenue, the West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival has a little something for everyone.
"So we have some food trucks, over 30 vendors, basket raffles," said Gina Malsky, entertainment coordinator, West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival.
Live music and performances also play a big role, and of course the Little Miss Cherry Blossom contest.
"The little miss participants, they'll be three of them this year. They're excited to ride in the parade in fancy cars and then compete after our opening ceremonies," stated Malsky.
Festival entertainment coordinator Gina Malsky says this year, the two mile race is more meaningful than ever, because it's being held in memory of festival committee chairman and local electrician Bob Messina.
"All the proceeds from the race are going to send local boy scouts to camp, which is near and dear to Bob's heart. We are doing this in memory of him cause he was just great in the community, loved the festival, loved the boy scouts so if we could do a little to give back in memory of him that's what we're doing," expressed Malsky.
The festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine.
