OLD FORGE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A house was severely damaged after a Saturday morning fire in Old Forge.
According to Chief Mark Tagliaterra of the Old Forge Fire Department, crews were called to the 500 block of Winter Street for a reported structure fire just after 4:00 a.m.
Tagliaterra says that when crews arrived on-scene, they found a fire that started in the garage but spread to the home.
Tagliaterra requested the fire be moved to a second alarm because of exposure issues so multiple surrounding units were called in.

Officials say the house suffered significant damage, but it is unknown at this time if it is a total loss.
The family is staying with in-laws that live nearby, but it is unknown how many people were staying in the house.
State police are investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
Crews were on-scene for around three hours.
