WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Free comics, superheroes, and helping cats: Rubber Mallet Comics celebrates big in West Pittston. The store participated in Free Comic Book Day, an annual effort held on the first Saturday of May.
The shop marked the big day and its anniversary on Saturday with giveaways, discounts, and superhero photo-ops.
54th Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off in West Pittston
All proceeds from the superhero pictures go to Rescue Warriors Cat Rescue.
"Get people into the store, get people reading, if you read comics you read, so get people reading," Co-Owner of Rubber Mallet Comics Martha Pezzino said.
Rubber Mallet is one of more than 2,000 comic book shops nationwide that take part in Free Comic Book Day.
