WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Runners laced up their sneakers in West Pittston for the two-mile flat run called the Cherry Blossom Charge. It started and ended at the borough's Cherry Blossom Fairgrounds at Susquehanna and Luzerne Avenues.
The run was held in memory of former Cherry Blossom Festival Chair and volunteer Bob Messina, who passed away in January.

"I'm a go-on-go runner, so just something coming up in the community, I would like to try my best and try to get a medal and donate to whatever the cause was for," Runner Kyle Mlodzienski said.
"I just did it because I am on the Wyoming Area Distance Track Team, and so it's a good way for me to practice, and my team motivated me to be here today," runner Chloe Chepalonis told 28/22 News.
Money raised from the Cherry Blossom Charge will help send local Boy Scouts to camp.
