NWS issues flood warnings after heavy rains in PA

(WBRE/WYOU) — The National Weather Service (NWS) announced on Sunday that several counties are under flash flood warnings.

The NWS issued a flood warning for the following counties until 10:30 p.m. Sunday night:

Lackawanna County

Susquehanna County

Wayne County

According to the NWS, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the affected areas, with 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain already fallen.

The NWS warns residents to take proper precautions when encountering an area experiencing flash flooding by turning around and to not drown.

Areas anticipated to be impacted could experience flash flooding of urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, small creeks, and streams, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
