Fatal crash brings Bradford County community together

WYALUSING TOWNSHIP, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A small community is slowly coming together after an unimaginable tragedy. One week after a crash involving a Towanda Area School District vehicle that killed a nine-year-old boy and his driver, and seriously injured two other children, the community is stepping up to show love, support, and remembrance.

At a special baseball game fundraiser on Wednesday, neighbors gathered not only to raise money but to honor young lives cut short.

Organizers say the strength of the community has been overwhelming, but gathering together has helped share the grief.

"Having everyone come together so quickly is really great. We love seeing the communities work together," Autumn Heeman with the Roosevelt Trail Little League said.

"My friends, did give me cards, it was get well, one of them," Crash victim Stormey Kissell explained.

"It's been an absolute miracle that Stormey went from being on a ventilator with all things on him, to coming home in five days," Grandmother of Stormey, Rose Ackley, told 28/22 News.

Money raised will go towards supporting the families affected, helping cover medical costs, and funeral expenses.
