Hazleton homicide suspect Terence Ray in custody

28/22 NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Terence Ray, the man accused of murdering and burning 39-year-old Jessica Lockwood, has been captured.

Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce confirmed with 28/22 News reporter Andy Mehalshick that Ray has been taken into custody. Sanguedolce did not immediately specify where the arrest took place.

Ray, 55, is accused of murdering Jessica Lockwood inside his home on Muir Avenue in Hazleton.

An autopsy stated she died from a gunshot wound and blunt force trauma. Her body was found burning on Club 40 Road the following day.

Today, family reached out to 28/22 News saying that Lockwood's 11-year-old daughter Isabella wanted to say something publicly about her mother.

Captured, a man wanted for the brutal murder of a Luzerne County woman is now in police custody.

55-year-old Terence Ray has been on the run for 11 days.

He is accused of killing 39-year-old Jessica Lockwood from Hazleton nearly two weeks ago. Her body was found burning along a Hazleton road.

The I-team has confirmed that ray was arrested just before 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning by U.S marshals and the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit.

The family of Jessica Lockwood tells 28/22 News this is is just the first step in getting justice for Jessica and Thursday, Lockwood's 11-year-old daughter wanted to say something publicly about her mother.

55-year-old Terence ray's run from the law ended early Thursday morning, taken into custody at a yet undisclosed location.

He has been on the run for 11 days, investigators say he murdered 39-year-old Jessica Lockwood inside his Hazleton home on April 26 then set her body on fire along Club 40 Road in Hazleton.

Her body was discovered the next day by a man driving on the road.

An autopsy shows that Lockwood died from a gunshot wound and blunt force trauma. Police searched Ray's home on Muir Avenue and say they found evidence linking him to her murder.

Investigators say Lockwood went to Ray's house to buy painkillers. She suffered from substance abuse disorder. Her family just wants justice.

"At first you know its first things first justice for Jessica, second of all peace and justice for the family. The kids could rest at night now you have a murderer off the street that's another thing as well," stated Jude Sidari, Lockwood family friend.

And the Lockwood family reached out to this 28/22 News saying that Lockwood's 11-year-old daughter, Isabella, wanted to say something publicly about her mother.

Mehalshick asked the daughter," Isabella, you wanted to say something today about your mom? What do you want the world to know about you mom?"

Isabella stated, "She was just a great human being and I don't think she deserves anything of this that happened to her pretty much. She was just a great person and everyone loved her."

Jessica Lockwood also has a 14-year-old son.
