WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Honoring those who have helped serve the community, the theme behind Wilkes University's annual 'Founders Gala'.
The dinner social raises funds for students in NEPA and gives them a chance to speak about their experiences in the program as a first generation college student.
Each year at the event, an award is given based on the criteria of those who help others and give back to the community.
This year's recipient of the Chairperson's Award is Fellerman and Ciarimboli law.
"Yeah, it's quite an honor you know for sure for us and for our firm and for our families very very much appreciated," expressed Ed Ciarimboli, Fellerman and Ciarimboli Law.
"It's a lifetime achievement award. It's really about people who've made an impact over an extended period of time," added Greg Cant, President, Wilkes University.
The gala is the university's largest fundraiser of the year.
