Cruisin' for a Cause with vintage cars in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — What a weekend to wax up those vintage rides and show them off in the bright sunshine. That is what some folks did on Saturday, in Wilkes-Barre, for a classic and custom car show called Cruisin' for a Cause.

On display were American muscle cars, classics, and JDMs, which stands for Japanese Domestic Market.

The first-time event at Toyota Sportsplex benefits United Way of Wyoming Valley.

United Way got some help from Unit 124, which works with charities and non-profits through events in the car scene.

"We did a couple car shows over the years for suicide prevention, veterans support, and I realized I've never seen a car show for United Way," Owner of Unit 124 and Event Host Thomas Cardillo said.

"I came here to show off my car today. It's a 2006 Honda Accord VP. Everything I've done to it, it was myself. Full suspension, exhaust, and body kit as well," Edwin Mercado from Wilkes-Barre told 28/22 News.

Organizers say they met and hoped to surpass their goal of $8,000 at the car show in the Diamond City.
