(WBRE/WYOU)— May 18 marks the start of National EMS Week, a time to celebrate and recognize the men and women who provide those lifesaving emergency services.
In honor of that, "Emergency Medical Services of Northeastern Pennsylvania" in collaboration with multiple EMS agencies across NEPA will offer several free car seat check events during the week.

Experts will look at things like the fit of the seat and the expiration date.
Injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in children.
That's why ems of nepa and its partners want to reach as many children as possible with their car seat checks.
"Even though many use car seats, there's a lot of misuses as well, so we wanna find those misuses and make sure that our children are riding as safe as possible," explained Robert Carpenter, Executive Director, EMS NEPA.
