MILFORD, PIKE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pike County commissioners are hoping to protect the elderly community.
They hosted a roundtable today on elder justice, issues related to serving and protecting the elderly community.
Several agencies and organizations that directly work with the elderly were represented and shared their challenges and concerns.
Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging Jason Kavulich was there to lead the discussion on finding possible solutions.
"This is important for us to have forums like this to continue to educate communities, bring communities together, have the conversations about finding solutions and making sure that there's an awareness in the community about what it means to be an older adult and be financially exploited," explained Kavulich.
Officials say this is only the first step in creating better ways to protect the elderly.
