Owners vow to rebuild after restaurant fire in Mountain Top

WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A busy family-owned restaurant was destroyed after a massive fire in Luzerne County.

Those 28/22 News spoke with say Adelina's Restaurant and Pizzeria was a popular spot for locals and somewhere people loved to work.

"It was shocking to wake up to. My husband and I have celebrated our last few anniversaries over at the restaurant. So this is heartbreaking," neighbor and customer Valerie Miller said.

Adelina's Restaurant and Pizzeria is in ruins after the early morning blaze broke out, taking out the roof and leaving the place beyond repair.

"Hopefully, they can rebuild. Cause it's one of our favorite restaurants on the mountain," Miller continued.

Friends of the family say it was a difficult call to wake up to.

What to know before PA Primary Election Day

"It's the last thing you'd think of to happen. It's just devastating. It's the owner's pride and joy; they did so much to this place to make it how it is today, and you just lose it all in a second," employee and friend of the family Devyn Sura stated.

According to the Wright Twonship Fire chief, an employee coming in for work just before 5:00 a.m. found the fire in the back of the building and called 911.

When crews arrived, flames were already shooting through the top of the building.

Word of the fire spread quickly throughout the community, with customers and other local businesses showing their support.

"I mean it's amazing to see just a small community like this come together and just help one another out and just be there for each other," Sura continued.

No one was injured, and a fire marshal is investigating the cause.

Adelina's owners say they plan to rebuild.
