WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An investigation is underway in Wilkes-Barre after police responded to a report of a man who was attacked with a crowbar early Tuesday morning.
Police say they were called to the area of South River and Academy streets just before 1:30 a.m. for a report of an assault.

The victim told police he was standing in front of a business on the 300 block of South Main Street when he was confronted by a man known to him as "Old Man Charlie", who then began to hit him with a crowbar, according to the police report.
The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
