WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The annual Miss Unico Pageant was held Wednesday at the Luzerne County courthouse, but this pageant is not just about looks; the girls were also judged on their impact on their community and service over self.
The judges are four well-known and accomplished women in Luzerne County, one being the Pittston Chambers' Accomplished Woman of the Year.

One of the girls competing says her goal is to make a lasting impact on her community.
"I really want to be the change, part of the change in the community, part of the change in this town, part of the change anywhere I go. I really want to make an impact on the people and the environment," Hanover Area Senior Flora Tirado said.
"I see a nice fetcher for these ladies and the ladies that are going to follow them to promote what we are looking for here at Unico, which is integrity, charity, education, and goodwill," Event Judge Rose Ferentino Grimes stated.
The winner of the pageant will be announced next weekend during the Unico football game.
