FORTY FORT, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Volunteers came out for a decades-old tradition in Luzerne County.
United Way of Wyoming Valley held its 32 Annual Day of caring in Forty Fort.
More than 600 volunteers fanned out in the community at places like Wyoming Valley Children's Association in Forty Fort.
Organization to hold walk for only 24/7 women’s shelter
Some folks cleaned the pre-school.
Other volunteers headed to various nonprofits, schools, and advocacy centers.
Around 50 local non-profits and community organizations took part in the event.
"This is an opportunity for the community to come together to do different projects in the community. Organizations need a lot of help to keep their resources going in the community so we're really excited about coming together to do that today," expressed Sara Peperno, executive director, Wyoming Valley Children's Association.
There was also a breakfast and award ceremony.
