1 dead, 1 injured after Schuylkill County crash

KLINE TOWNSHIP, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are investigating a deadly crash Saturday.

Schuylkill County Coroner Doc Moylan told 28/22 News his office was called to the 1000 block of Mile Hill Road (PA-309) after a reported crash around 4:00 p.m.

A PSP release states that 51-year-old Thairen Finley, of Lansford, PA, died after the 2018 Chevy Equinox he was driving was struck by the driver of a Ram truck just after 4:00 p.m.

Officials say the driver of the Ram Truck was traveling south on PA-309 at the I-81 ramp when they traveled across both lanes of traffic, for unknown reasons, on the northbound side and collided with Finley, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the Ram truck was taken to Lehigh valley Hazleton with a suspected serious injury

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation stated that all lanes of State Route 309 between East Main Street and Lofty Road were closed until around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call Pennsylvania State Police at 570-874-5300.
