Police release details on Williamsport death investigation

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities in Lycoming County launched a death investigation Monday morning after a man was found dead in Williamsport.

The Williamsport Police Department on Monday said shortly after 10:45 a.m., they were called to the 1200 block of West 4th Street for a report of a deceased person.

Officers say they found a man dead inside an apartment and were later told the landlord found him after family members asked them to check on him.

Police say the cause of death is still under investigation and will be determined pending an autopsy.

Additionally, the Lycoming County Coroner confirmed there is a death investigation underway in Williamsport.

"I'm appalled, because things like that that close to home, you know it it gives you a sense of false security, like you never know who's around or who's capable of doing what," Williamsport resident Darsean Mosley told 28/22 News.

"I have three kids, you know, and they like to go to the park over where we play. You know, so now that makes me feel like I gotta watch them even closer, which I already watch him close enough as it is anyway," Rick Probst from Williamsport said.

The Lycoming County Coroner told 28/22 News they found the man had taken his own life.
