WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A summer tradition in Wilkes-Barre is back under the big tent, and book lovers are lining up. It's the 48th Annual Friends of the Osterhout Free Library Tent Sale. Thousands of books are up for grabs across more than 60 categories.

Adult titles range from $1 to $6 while children's books start at just 50¢ each.

The sale raises critical funds for the library, totaling more than $600,000 to date.

"The best part, just seeing everyone with a love of books to see the kids come in and go to the children's section and they're so excited to get items to read and you see other people that read and they're getting all the good deals, everyone's so happy," Friends of the Osterhout Library Vice President Tanya Brown told 28/22 News.

"Even with the rain, it's been busy, it's crowded, a lot of the area's people are excited coming in," Friends of the Osterhout Library President Linda Kubiak said.

The sale runs through next Saturday with daily specials and a dedicated children's day on Wednesday.

Just don't forget, it's cash only, and you'll want to bring a bag, except for the final day, when boxes are on them.
