WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Six new police officers will be joining the force in the city of Wilkes-Barre.
All six were sworn in at City Hall Friday morning.
Mayor George Brown says they all have years of experience in the field and are already certified.

"It's going to help us with the community policing, having officers in the neighborhoods, more officers on the bike patrols, walking the neighborhoods and parking their cars, going to the sub stations in the neighborhoods and being very visible to the people of the city of Wilkes-Barre," explained Mayor George Brown, (D) Wilkes-Barre.
They will spend about three months in training to get acclimated to the new policies of the City of Wilkes-Barre before they will be on their own on the streets.
