CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Archers readied their bows for a weekend of fun in Carbondale. Dozens of people descended on Camp Freedom for Freedom Archery Fest.
The three-day event kicked off Friday, welcoming archers from beginners to experts.
The event gives lovers of the sport and the great outdoors a chance to bond with others and learn about Camp Freedom.
It also raised money for Camp Freedom, which offers outdoor adventures to disabled veterans, first responders, and their families.

"The money always goes back for a good cause, so this year specifically for Camp Freedom that gives back to the veterans and stuff here so, and we like challenging shots and it's always happening here," Air Force Veteran and Archery Competitor from New York John Yeagley told 28/22 News.
"It's great. You know, they put their lives on the line for us every day, in the first responder case or you know they're going overseas or whatever so anything that we can do to help them, we're here to help them," Event Organizer Greg Gondella said.
Camp Freedom teamed up with High Times Archery and Outdoors of Dunmore to host Freedom Archery Fest in Lackawanna County's upper valley.
