HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— They climb for a living, but Saturday it was all for fun, competition, and a cause.
Dozens of Union lineworkers from across the country took part in the 13th annual NSUJL Benefit Rodeo at City View Park in Hazleton.
The day of friendly competition raises money for the National Sisterhood United for Journeymen Linemen, as well as families who lost a loved one in the trade.

Events ranged from speed climbs to pole rescues, all while celebrating the camaraderie of a dangerous job.
"They love it because a lot of times you know they're traveling for storms or they're doing their Monday through Friday or their 12 hour shift, here they can come, you know they can rib each other, just have some friendly competition, and then everybody in the end wants to go home with the trophy. It just gives them time to relax for a little bit, have fun with the brothers," explained Tammy Duncan, President, NSUJL.
"It's great, I mean you meet people from all walks of life, yes we're all linemen that are competing and you know we do the same thing on a daily basis, but you walk in and meet new people and talk like you've known them for years," added Brandon Kemp, Competitor Lineman.
The NSUJL Benefit Rodeo also featured an array of vendors showcasing trade wares and delectable food options.
Organizers say the event grows more and more each year, so they will be moving to an even bigger field right next to their venue in Hazleton's City View Park next year.
