Grandstand reopened after five hour delay

(WBRE/WYOU)— With isolated storms passing through Sunday afternoon, the Pocono Raceway has had to adjust.

At around 9:30 a.m., the raceway told all attendees to evacuate the grandstand due to the threat of thunderstorms.

After approximately five hours, the lightning hold was finally lifted but did warn attendees to stay vigilant as bad weather is still in the area

Gates and the Paddock area are now open.

Pit Road will remain closed to Paddock Pass holders to allow for drying operations.

The race is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. on Amazon Prime

For the rest of the day, you can expect partly cloudy skies. It will be hot and humid with a chance of an isolated shower or storm this afternoon and highs in the mid 90's.

The night beings some clouds with a warm and muggy feeling and lows in the mid 70's

Temperatures will be in the low to mid 90's through Wednesday, with a heat index of 100 on Monday.

There is a chance of an isolated shower or storm later today, but a better chance of showers and storms move back in for the second half of the week.

Temperatures will also be back in the 80's by Thursday.

Monday will be sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the mid 90's.

Tuesday will be more of the same as it will again be sunny, hot, and humid and highs in the mid 90's.

Wednesday a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm and highs near 90.

Thursday will be partly sunny and chance of showers and thunderstorms and highs in the mid 80's.

Friday brings more clouds and a chance of showers and thunderstorms with highs in the mid 80's.

Saturday the sun will return but with a chance of showers and highs in the low 80's
