Verizon landline phone outage impacts Clarks Summit residents

CLARKS SUMMIT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say a phone outage is impacting Verizon landlines in Clarks Summit, making it harder for some residents in the area to contact 911.

Authorities told 28/22 News Sunday afternoon that there is a reported landline phone outage in Clarks Summit for Verizon customers.

About 250 residents are affected, and there is no cause or estimated time for repairs to be completed.

Residents are advised by officials that if they are experiencing an emergency and they can't reach 911, to call the non-emergency line at 570-342-9111.

If the non-emergency number doesn't work, residents are urged by authorities to go to nearby fire departments in Clark Summit, Ransom Township, and South Abington Township.
