WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT has announced new long-term detours while crews repair a sinkhole.
Blackman Street was closed at the intersection of Carlisle and Huston Streets on June 25 due to the sinkhole. The estimated time of reopening has yet to be determined.

The updated detours are as follows:
Car Detour from Blackman Street to San Souci Parkway:
Turn left onto South Main Street.
Continue on South Main Street for 1 mile.
Turn right onto West Street Mary's Road.
Continue on West Street Mary's Road for .6 miles.
Turn right onto Sans Souci Parkway.
Continue on San Souci Parkway for 1 mile.
The detour will end at the intersection of San Souci Parkway and Horton Street.
Car Detour from San Souci Parkway to Blackman Street:
Continue straight on San Souci Parkway for 1 mile.
Turn left onto West Street, Mary's Road.
Continue on West Street, Mary's Road for .6 miles.
Turn Left onto South Main Street.
Continue on South Main Street for 1 mile.
The detour will end at the intersection of Blackman Street and South Main Street.
Truck Detour from Blackman Street to San Souci Parkway:
Turn left onto South Main Street.
Continue on South Main Street for 3.1 miles.
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit onto the South Valley Parkway.
Continue on the South Valley Parkway for .6 miles.
At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit to merge onto Route 29 North.
Continue on Route 29 North for 0.9 miles.
Take exit 3 towards San Souci Parkway.
Turn Right onto San Souci Parkway.
Continue on San Souci Parkway for 4 miles.
The detour will end at the intersection of San Souci Parkway and Horton Street.
Truck Detour from San Souci Parkway to Blackman Street:
Continue straight on San Souci Parkway for 4 miles.
Turn left to merge onto Route 29 South.
Continue on Route 29 South for .6 miles.
Take exit 2 toward Wilkes-Barre/Alden.
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit and stay on South Valley Parkway.
Continue on South Valley Parkway for .6 miles.
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit and stay on South Valley Parkway.
Continue on South Valley Parkway for .6 miles.
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd onto South Main/St South Valley Parkway.
Continue on South Main Street for 3.1 miles.
The detour will end at the intersection of Blackman Street and South Main Street.
