Pa. trooper accused of assaulting infant, abusing children

(WBRE/WYOU) — A Pennsylvania State Trooper has been charged after investigators say he caused head trauma to an infant and abused two other children.

An investigation discovered that in September 2023, an infant was in Young’s care when an injury happened, as stated in the release. The victim required medical intervention, hospital admission, and physical therapy.

The investigation also revealed a pattern of abuse caused by Young, before and after this incident, to two other children, including digging his chin into one of the victims’ heads multiple times, causing a visible injury, AG Dave Sunday stated.

A witness also alleged that Young allowed guns to be accessible to the children and allowed a child to hold them.

Young was previously charged with intimidation of a witness after he allegedly repeatedly called and texted a potential witness in an attempt to persuade them to cooperate in a child abuse investigation.

The Office of Attorney General charged 35-year-old Christopher Young with the following:

Aggravated assault

Simple assault

Endangering the welfare of a child

Recklessly endangering another person

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Young is currently suspended without pay.
