Investigation continues in Debra Fox 'House of Horrors' case

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two homicides, torture, kidnapping, arrests, all tied to a Wilkes-Barre house that police describe as a "House of Horrors."

The remains of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas were found buried in the basement of the Carlisle Street home in February of 2024.

Six people are charged in connection with her torture and murder.

The investigation continues into the murder of the longtime owner of the home, 69-year-old Debra Fox. Her body was found in a wooded area near the Cross Valley Expressway about a month after the discovery of Cuevas's remains.

No one has been charged in connection with her murder.

Wilkes-barre Police call it a House of Horrors, the likes of which they have never seen before.

Two murders, torture and beatings all connected to the house.

It unfolded in February of last year with the discovery of the remains of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas buried in the basement of the home, and we would soon learn that was just the beginning of several violent crimes connected to the house including the unsolved the murder of the longtime owner of the house, 69-year-old Debra Fox.

This is the so called house of horrors, 142 Carlisle Street here in south Wilkes-Barre.

Family and friends of Debra Fox want justice for her.

The story of 142 Carlisle Street in Wilkes-Barre sounds almost to unbelievable to be true, but police say it is all too real and they say more horrific details are yet to be revealed.

It all began in February of 2024 with the discovery of the remains of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas.

Detectives say she was held against her will in the basement, chained to the floor, tortured and murdered.

Six people are charged in connection with her death and burial.

They are Desiree Linnette, Jason race, William Wolfe, Sarah Doyle, who is Linnettte's daughter, Faith Beamer and Anthony Dixon.

A month after Cuevas's body was discovered, the body of 69-year-old Debra Fox was found in a wooded area near the North Cross Valley Expressway in Wilkes-Barre.

Charges have not been filed in connection with her murder.

District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce says the investigation into Fox's murder is moving in the right direction.

"As you know from previous statements, we know that it's related to the house of horrors. Some of the same people are involved. I can say we've been actively investigating witnesses and trying to tie these cases together and put what we need to find out what exactly happened to Debra Fox," said DA Sanguedolce.

"Are there any other crimes that are connected to this group of people," asked Mehalshick.

"I can't really comment on that at this time, but I can say that we know other people are out there that may have information, so if you do have information we would ask that you call wilkes-barre city police detectives," explained DA Sanguedolce.

Gary Muchler lives across the street from the so called house of horrors, he was friends with Debra Fox for decades.

"Well, I think their involved, wasn't just one person. They were all involved. Eventually, somebody will squeal if they offer the death sentence to them like that, they are all involved," stated Muchler.
